LAWMA SEEKS COLLABORATION WITH ODIOLOWO OJUWOYE LCDA ON EFFECTIVE WASTE MANAGEMENT

Lagos State Waste Management Agency, LAWMA has seek collaboration with Odiolowo-Ojuwoye LCDA in the area of waste management.
The council's boss expressed delight in having the agency in the LCDA.
He stated that government at all levels are working towards common goals which is service to the people in order to make life easy for them.
"For us to have an efficient waste management, all hands must be on deck to ensure all the stakeholders do the right things
" There must be synergy between the government at the local government level and the waste management authority for success to be attained in that area," Hon Ajala said.
He commended the agency for its work in the state which he described as very enormous with the population of Lagos State soaring everyday.
He advised that the agency should ensure it partnered all the relevant stakeholders like religious leaders, community development associations and other organizations to get good results.
"Religious leaders must use the power of the microphone to communicate to their followers on the need to make their environment clean at all times.
He called on the agency to create opportunities for the youth in the LCDA to be trained to reduce the unemployment youths.
The representative of the agency at the event Mrs. Tawakalitu appreciated the council's boss for giving them the opportunity to have the program in the council and also make valuable contributions to the program.
"Of all the local government we have visited, yours is exceptional because you have heat the nail in the head and have made our discussion easier as you have said it all, Mrs. Tawakalitu stated.
On the youth empowerment, Mrs. Tawakalitu said the agency will request the council to provide between thirty to forty youths for training as Sanitarians.
She implored the people to take proper care of their environment regularly.
She particularly told the market leaders to sensitize their people to patronize PSP operators for effective disposal of their waste.
Mrs. Tawakalitu also informed the PSP operators to partnered the health officers in order for them to be able to get payments for the services they are rendering.
She equally called on the Community Development Association Chairmen present to tell the people on the need to patronize the PSP operators for the disposal of their waste.
Mrs. Tawakalitu also mentioned the importance of people sorting their waste as this can generate wealth for the people through recycling process and reducing the pressure on dump sites.
She requested that the council provide the agency with two collection centers for recycling products to be accessed by recyclers.
Responding, the council's boss said there is a plan on establishing Odiolowo-Ojuwoye Environmental Management Corps to complement the Sanitarians.
He promised to enter into meaningful agreement with the investors on the request of the sites.
At the event were the leader of the legislative arm in the LCDA Hon Rilwan Ola Ajenifuja, Head of Department in the LCDA, Alhaji Shakirudeen Omotayo, representative of the CDC Chairman, Otunba Adebayo Adekunle, Iyaloja General of Odiolowo-Ojuwoye, Alhaja Mufuliat Adebunmi, Councilors, Supervisors, HODs and party faithful across the LCDA.
