ODI-OLOWO OJUWOYE LCDA DISTRIBUTES FREE GCE FORMS AS BEST PERFORMING STUDENT RECEIVES ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND NAIRA

Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye LCDA under the leadership of Hon Rasaq Olusola Ajala yesterday distributed free GCE forms to the indigent students of the local council development area. The event took place at the main hall of the council..
The annual event which was the third of its kind began last week with the MOCK examination written by over one thousand students across the local council development area. Those who scored above average were shortlisted for the GCE forms.
Addressing the gathering, Hon Ajala said government would continued to support Education programmes in the LCDA.
He said: " The results gotten from previous programmes encouraged the government to continue with the programme.
He said: " Over seventy percent of the people that got the forms last year eventually passed their GCE external examination.
" The model adopted which was successful prompted the government to continue the program. He said those who passed their external examination were given free JAMB forms which equally recorded success..
" The students of the local council development area will start enjoying bursary and scholarships awards starting from this year by September. He said forms for this will be out by next week Monday.
He also announced free tutorial during this long holiday for students within the local council which will take place at Ilupeju Senior Grammar School, Oshodi with free buses to convey them to and from designation spots for those who live far from the school.
The highlight of the event was the announcement of the sum of one hundred thousand naira to the best performing students from the MOCK examination, Master Osho Folami Abdu-l-lateef who was absent from the event due to illness.
Hon Ajala equally said the picture of the boy would adorn the free-ride buses provided for the students for three month. He said:" This will serve as motivation for other students in the subsequent examinations.
The mother of the student, Mrs Osho stood for him at the event. She was full of praises for the Chairman of the council. She thanked him for the cash donation and the form given to her son. She prayed for the Chairman and his cabinet for the good gesture. Other students later received their GCE forms from important dignitaries at the event.
