The Executive Chairman, Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye LCDA, Hon Rasaq Olusola Ajala, hosted the Rotary Club of Ilupeju Central yesterday in his office.
Welcoming them in his office, Hon Ajala thanked them for the support extended to him and the party.
He said their current theme (Connecting the World) was aligned with the programme of his government.
He said: "The government can not do it alone; hence, there is need to be associated and have synergy with every patriotic Nigerian and any responsible corporate entity to be able to fulfil the covenant we have with our people.
He also added that the government and Rotary club have shared a theme and objective but on different platforms. He believed the new President has everything it takes to take the club to a greater height like her predecessors.
As an honorary member of the club, he assured them that he would continue to support and identified with them as he does to other organizations that have the passion to support and help the community.
He said: "Both the government and the club are in the same pedestal in serving the people."
He equally assured them that his government will reciprocate their kind gesture by supporting them in anyway it can despite that there are so many areas where the government's attention is needed.
Responding on behalf of the club, Rotarian, Eniola Afolabi, thanked the Chairman for hosting them. She prayed to God to strengthen him to be able to move the LCDA to a greater height.
The club later presented the portrait of the Chairman which was done by one of the children of a member of the club.
Receiving the gift, the Chairman expressed gratitude to the club for the gift and promised to always welcome them any time they decided to visit.
The current President of the club for 2019/20 , Rotarian Princess Bridget Jaja, said the objective of the club is to bring forth the theme of Rotary club this year which is "Connect the the world".
She said they wanted to begin from home because according to her, charity begins at home. And that was what prompted their visit to the Chairman.
She said Odiolowo/Ojuwoye LCDA was their own local government and they had honorary members across the community which the former governor of Lagos state, Alhaji Lateef Jakande was one and Hon Ajala.
"We believed (sic) we must involved (sic) these individuals in whatever we are doing so we can fly," she said.
"As the chairman of the council and an honorary member of the club, we synergize and collaborate with him, having his support and once that is achieved, we can call on him any time.
The President was full of praises for the chairman as she described him as hardworking and energetic council chairman.
She equally said the club was focussing on water, sanitation, economy, child care and the family at large
She said: "They always reach out to the high and low earners for support. She said this is done so that people will all be part of the project and won't have negative minds towards any program rolled out." " There is a programme on eradication of polio tagged "Give me 5". Individuals are expected to make handshake and returned it with minimum of N2000.00. to the purse of the club which will attract ticket to win a brand new car, a tricycle, "keke Marwa" and other gifts.
She stated that she wanted to be remembered as someone who effected a change and was part of that change, and someone who touched lives positively.
Among the members that visited were the current President, Rotarian Princess Bridget Jaja, Rotarians Wale Oriowo, immediate past President of the club, Eniola Afolabi, Segun Awonuga, and Ayo Shonuga.
